Existing Doha Port

  • While Qatar’s booming oil and natural gas industries are catered for by dedicated ports at Ras Laffan and Mesaieed, the country’s commercial and business sectors are primarily served through present Doha Port in the heart of the city.

However, Doha Port is fast reaching its maximum throughput capacity and its prime city centre location is no longer compatible with longer-term developments planned for the capital of Qatar. “There is an urgent need to respond to challenges the future will bring by developing the new port for our capital city, the rest of the country and the entire Gulf region.”

  • Capt. Al Mas added: “Qatar’s progressive government has been steadily investing earnings from its hydrocarbons industry into building new transport infrastructure projects including the new deepsea port, highway upgrades, development of the country’s first integrated cargo and passenger rail corridor and opening Doha’s new inter - national airport. All of these initiatives are at the top of the government’s agenda. “The development of Qatar’s transport plan is thanks to the vision and farsighted leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar. Our sustenance and encouragement comes from the constant support given to Qatar’s ports by the Emir.”
